Tidbits

When Solomon can't fall asleep right away he howls, "Me have tru-bull wit my bed!" as if it is a tragic and painful thing.

Everyday the boys panic when they hear their father's keys or the dog barks in anticipation of his arrival. They have to run and hide from him, a tradition begun by Mordecai. This is apparent because Solomon gives a half-hearted hide behind a couch pillow and then burst forward with screams of joy. If Mordecai is discovered too soon, or heaven forbid isn't able to hide before his father comes in, you would think we'd cancelled his birthday - the disappointment is tangible. Ah, our little type A.

Finally, Cai brought home a worksheet from preschool. The topic was strawberries. He painted two lovely berries and then had to fill in the blank.

Strawberries are... "good for you."

Strawberries smell... "like the red-orange sun."

Strawberries taste... "like candy."

I like strawberries because... "my brother eats them and I like my brother."

The funny thing is, Cai doesn't really like strawberries and it's true, his brother loves them.
