I don't have much to say but I feel like writing, so I will. Spent the weekend at our cabin and I was forced to face the fact that another lovely summer has passed. The ground was covered with pine needles and in the morning we wore sweatshirts and once I even considered socks. Cai proved how brilliant he is by predicting snow soon and my dad and I put together a wood rack that used to belong to my grandfather. I pushed barrel after barrel of freshly cut wood up the hill. My dad spent days last month chopping, chopping, chopping - it is one of his favorite hobbies. Oh, the most exciting part of the weekend was when my dad unveiled his freshly painted restored Ford Ranchwagon. He had a color custom mixed and named it 'Purple Cai', so Mordecai now believes it is his car. It's this gorgeous sparkly purple with gold and pink flames across the hood and all the way down the sides - when my dad takes the cover off Cai screeches like a teenage girl at an Elvis concert. I'll post a photo when I have one. So the kids both have fevers and I'm waiting to see if they blossom into cootie-fests or if they will quietly cool. I'm obviously hoping for the latter so the three of us don't have to stay housebound this week - the cool weather is calling us outside!
