Party update
I don't really think I can accurately describe just how lovely my sweet boy's 3rd birthday party was. Yesterday the weather was nothing less than glorious. We spent the day playing, running errands and laughing. We didn't turn on the computer or the TV and only listened to our favorite African Salsa album. Both boys napped, my folks stayed with them while Jaya and I went for coffee alone. Come 3pm nearly all of our favorite kids and their parents came over for a couple hours of jumping in the Scooby Doo bounce house, eating pizza and panda bear cake and having a great time. We spent most of our time in the front yard where my Cecil Bruner has finally begun to bloom and the Iceland poppies are indescribably gorgeous. Cai opened a moderate amount of presents which included a disposal camera for fun and a ladybug house with a mail-in certificate for live ladybug larvae! Yay - spring project! His favorite gift was the Mystery Machine with Scooby and Shaggy action figures from his Uncle Bubba. And besides an initial bout of shyness when lots of guests began to arrive, he had a really great time and therefore, I felt like a good mom.
I've been doing a lot of exploring into the world of good mom/bad mom feelings, I guess I'll get into that crap later. But as of yesterday, I was in good mom land. When I put him to bed last night and told him 'Happy Birthday' one last time this year, he put both his sticky birthday cakey hands on my cheeks and said in the most loving little whisper, 'And Happy Birfday to you too, my little Mama'.
